The form of melancholy

Poetry | From Anatomy of Love and Melancholy (2021)

When love is crouched
in a corner
under two dim stars
eclipsed by clouds
heralding tyranny heralding pain
when dreams and nightmares
twin curdling into an endless now
and wade languid in the mind
in moments lost in listlessness
and when nights shed their own tears
that’s when melancholy forms
and like hot molasses slithers
over the heart
you will find us there
caged by metal doubts and metal fears
